Who we are and how to contact us

Lorvei operates lorvei.com. For the personal information described in this notice, Lorvei is the controller unless another organisation is identified as an independent controller.

What information we collect

We collect only information that is reasonably needed to operate Lorvei, communicate with readers and understand how the publication is used.

• Newsletter information: your email address and subscription or consent records.
• Messages and enquiries: your email address, name if you provide it, the contents of your message and any information you choose to include.
• Website and analytics information: where you allow analytics, information such as page views, interactions, approximate location, browser or device information and referral information may be processed by our analytics provider.
• Technical and security information: hosting and network providers may process information such as IP address, browser or device details, requested URLs and timestamps as part of delivering and protecting the site.
• Operational publishing information: Lorvei may keep its own content schedules, manifest identifiers and local posting status for its internal publishing tools.

Lorvei does not ask visitors to create customer accounts, does not take payment on lorvei.com and does not intentionally collect payment-card details or special-category personal data through the website.

Why we use information and our lawful bases

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for using personal information. Depending on the activity, Lorvei relies on the following bases:

• Consent for optional analytics and for email newsletters where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests to operate, secure and improve the publication, respond to genuine enquiries, maintain appropriate business records, manage Lorvei's own publishing workflow and understand non-intrusive business performance, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
• Contract or steps at your request before a contract where you contact Lorvei about a genuine commercial or partnership arrangement and processing is necessary to deal with that request.
• Legal obligation where information must be used or retained to comply with applicable law, regulatory requirements or valid legal requests.

Where consent is the basis, refusing or withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Newsletter and marketing emails

When you choose to join the Lorvei newsletter, your email address and subscription information are submitted to Zoho Campaigns, which provides the mailing-list service. Lorvei uses this information to send the newsletter, administer subscriptions, record consent where required and manage unsubscribes.

The signup process is intended to confirm that you want the newsletter. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe route. You can also ask Lorvei to stop marketing emails by contacting hello@lorvei.com.

We may keep a minimal suppression record after an unsubscribe where needed to make sure we respect the opt-out and do not accidentally re-add the address to marketing.

Messages, corrections and business enquiries

If you email Lorvei, we use the information you provide to read and answer your message, deal with a correction, assess a partnership or product-information enquiry, protect our legitimate business interests and keep an appropriate record of the correspondence.

Please do not send sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your enquiry.

Cookies, local storage and analytics

Lorvei uses essential browser storage to remember your cookie choice. The current preference key is used only to remember whether you selected Allow analytics or Essential only.

Google Analytics is loaded only after you choose to allow analytics. It helps Lorvei understand how pages and links are used. The site code can also support Microsoft Clarity if it is enabled; under the current implementation it is subject to the same analytics-consent choice.

Non-essential analytics should not run before consent where consent is required. You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the site footer. More detail is available in the Cookie policy.

Affiliate links and retailers

Lorvei participates in affiliate programmes, including the Amazon UK Associates Programme. Some links to retailers are affiliate links, which means Lorvei may earn a commission if a qualifying purchase is made after a referral.

Lorvei does not receive your retailer password, payment-card details or full order information. Retailers and affiliate platforms operate their own websites and may process information such as your IP address, device information, referring page and transaction data under their own privacy notices. They act as independent controllers for their own services.

Lorvei may receive performance reports such as clicks, ordered-item totals or commission information. We use those reports for editorial and commercial performance analysis and do not use them to identify individual shoppers.

Pinterest API integration

Lorvei uses, or is applying to use, the official Pinterest API solely to manage Lorvei's own Pinterest business account and publish pre-approved Lorvei content. The integration may temporarily read Lorvei's own boards and Pins to match scheduled content to the correct existing board, publish it and verify whether publication succeeded.

The integration is not intended to access unrelated Pinterest users, collect Pinterest passwords or session cookies, sell Pinterest information, combine Pinterest account information with unrelated user profiles or share Pinterest API information with third parties.

Pinterest information returned through the API is used only as needed for the publishing operation and verification. Lorvei's implementation is intended not to retain Pinterest API-derived information except where Pinterest expressly permits retention. Lorvei may retain its own manifest, schedule, content identifiers and local posting status because these are Lorvei-created operational records.

OAuth access tokens, refresh tokens and application credentials are treated as confidential credentials and are not intended to be committed to public source control or written to application logs. Pinterest access can be revoked through the controls provided by Pinterest.

Claiming lorvei.com on Pinterest does not by itself install the Pinterest Tag. Lorvei does not currently use the Pinterest Tag for advertising or conversion tracking. If that changes, this notice and the site's consent information will be reviewed before non-essential tracking is enabled.

Hosting, security and service providers

Lorvei uses specialist providers to operate the publication. These may include Vercel for website hosting and delivery, Google for consented analytics, Zoho Campaigns for newsletter subscriptions, Pinterest for Lorvei's own publishing integration, and retailers or affiliate networks such as Amazon when you choose to follow an external retailer link.

These providers may process limited information on Lorvei's behalf or as independent controllers, depending on the service. We only intend to provide them with information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where a restricted international transfer of personal information is made, Lorvei expects the transfer to use a mechanism permitted by UK data protection law, such as applicable UK adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual safeguards.

How long we keep information

We do not keep personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements.

• Newsletter records: generally for as long as you remain subscribed, with a limited suppression or consent record retained afterwards where needed to respect your choices or demonstrate compliance.
• Enquiries and correspondence: for as long as needed to answer the matter and maintain an appropriate business record; longer retention may apply where a dispute, contract or legal obligation requires it.
• Analytics information: according to the retention controls configured with the analytics provider and only where the required consent exists.
• Consent preference: stored in your browser until it is changed, cleared or removed by your browser.
• Security and hosting logs: according to the operational and security retention periods of the relevant hosting or infrastructure provider.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, UK data protection law may give you rights to be informed, obtain access to your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure, request restriction, object to processing and receive or transfer certain information in a portable form.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent, including for analytics or marketing.

To exercise a right, email hello@lorvei.com with the subject Privacy. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Rights are subject to the exemptions and conditions in applicable law.

Children

Lorvei is a home-and-living publication for a general audience and is not designed as a service for children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the site. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Lorvei inappropriately, contact hello@lorvei.com so the situation can be reviewed.

Automated decisions

Lorvei does not use visitor personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on individuals.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure, and we limit access to information to people and providers who need it for the relevant purpose.

No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If a personal-data breach occurs, Lorvei will assess it and take the notification or mitigation steps required by applicable law.

External websites

Lorvei links to websites operated by other organisations, including retailers, manufacturers and sources. Once you leave lorvei.com, the destination organisation's privacy notice and terms apply. Lorvei is not responsible for how an independent third-party website handles personal information.

Complaints and the ICO

If you have a concern about how Lorvei uses personal information, please contact hello@lorvei.com first so we can try to resolve it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Lorvei's services, providers or legal obligations change. Material changes will be reflected on this page and the date below will be updated.
